This is an archival PRINT of an original painting by artist Belinda Joynes. The original painting was based on the fairy tale "Why Holland Loves the Stork": "In ancient times Holland was known as the Land of a Million Islands where fairies and mortals lived happily together. As time went by, their watery home began to attract more and more frogs. The noisy, untidy frogs were a nuisance and the fairies hated them. So they went to Egypt where White Storks had their home all year round and asked the stately, frog-eating birds for a Congress. The fairies begged the Storks to help them and eventually they agreed to visit Holland for one summer to rid it of frogs. The huge birds kept their promise and came to Holland and were delighted by the plentiful frogs and toads and snakes and worms and every other creature that wriggled around the watery lands. They loved the houses because the chimneys were perfect for their enormous nests. And Holland loved the Storks.
